Food Revolution

Ever since we became vegetarians, Dave and I have been set to eat healthier and live healthier. We tried various vitamins, including vitamins for me as well as best multivitamin for men for Dave. We’re not as successful or diligent in taking daily vitamins (we’re better with Lily though, go figure), so we’ve come to the point where we are more determined to eat healthy overall, rather than having to take supplements. Trying to eat healthy, and staying in the loop about where our foods come from. There is some sort of food revolution coming, and I’m glad we’re part of it.

Future Bringings

Over time, since Lily’s been born, people have here or there asked us if we’re going to have a second child any time soon. I’m not entirely sure what makes people think we’re interested in more children (we are), or if we’re considering timelines (we are). I think it’s kind of interesting that as soon as a couple has one child, people feel it’s a “safe” topic of discussion to ask about more children. I remember all too well the beauty of Lily’s birth (we were so entranced in her that we didn’t even bother with photo birth announcements at the time). We are considering another child, yes, but not for a few more years. We’re not rushing anything. We’re so much enjoying Lily’s presence, but we are also aspiring to make her a big sister one day. It will be sweet. She will love being one, I think.

But, that is for the future to know, for you guys to guess at.

Dance and Music Class

Today, as a family, we took Lily to her first (in a while) dance/music class for toddlers. It’s called “MusicGarten”… is that not just the cutest thing you’ve ever heard, ever? Heh. I forgot to bring my camera, but it was so hilarious and cute. She LOVED it. She was hopping, and waving her arms, and running and singing along, clapping — the whole works. She really enjoyed it. She talked about it all excitedly before we left, screaming in the car, “DANCE CLASS!!!!” and “MUSIC CLASS!!!!” And after class, she talked about it all evening on too. Then after dinner, she proceeded to show us what she did in dance/music class, which was apparently running around the coffee table giggling and happy. She also demanded that we joined her. It was the cutest thing ever.

So next week, same time, same place, for our little Lily. Dave also enjoyed watching from the outside window as well, as he saw his little girl hop like a bunny and clap and laugh in the class with me. Heh. At this rate, if everyone ran around chasing toddlers an hour a day, who would need any sort of best weight loss supplement?!

Getting the Groove

We’re finally starting to get into a new routine, after our big move to the new house. It’s been a bit of an experience, since we’ve lived at the old one for so long, it seems. It’s hard to readjust to something entirely new. Lily has more or less adjusted to it completely, but she still calls our house “the new house” instead of just “house.” It’s kind of cute, and a bit of a habit. I wonder when she’ll grow out of that?

We’re trying to get into a groove of things. Since I started my new job as well, we’ve been trying to figure out our schedules and what works for us as a family. During the day, on most days, Dave has Lily all to herself while I’m at work. Until I get my schedule together, most days he even gets her until well after dinner (which I don’t personally like since it means less time for me to spend with Lily!).

We’ll get the hang of it, eventually. Does anyone need incontinence products? I hope not!

Simple Living

One of the things we’re adding to our new home is new furniture. It’s been a trying experience, to say the least. It’s been a trying, expensive experience, too. We have so much to do and get settled for. We’re at the end of our journey, though, where we can almost relax. Dave is not an impulsive buyer, like I am, so this makes buying big items very, very difficult, and often annoying. We both get frustrated with each other, but at the end of the day, we get what we need and we’re happy, so it all works out for the better.

We’re not looking to conquer top franchises 2010 or anything. We’re just looking to live as simple and happy a life as possible.

Electronic Addicts

One of our bigger purchases since buying our home has come from good ol’ Best Buy itself. It’s a giant flat screen HD television set. With speakers. And nifty things that I don’t really understand or know how to operate. Having a Best Buy right around the corner is really troublesome for electronic geeks like us. We love our electronics, including our laptops, and our dvd player that we watch Lily’s educational dvds from. It’s dangerous. We have to literally hold back sometimes, from not getting more. Le sigh.

Nesting Again

It is as if we are officially plunged into the whole “nesting” phase of our lives again around here. We’re waiting for several things for our new home. We’ve downsized a lot and made things a lot simpler, and in the meantime we’re also waiting for some new furniture. This stuff didn’t require a whole lot of gold coins we didn’t have, but we are looking forward to them nonetheless. One is a giant coffee table with lots of storage space for Lily’s toys (finally), and the other is a whole bedroom set for our master bedroom. It’s been a long time coming, and we’ve started out with a tiny twin size bed for the two of us, to now owning a king size bed. Woohoo!!

Yes, nesting is officially in full bloom around here. And no, we’re not pregnant. Just home owners and proud.
